Here is the latest from Lisandro and Patricia, serving in Monterrey, Mexico...

Dear family and friends:

It has been a month since we left Monterrey to participate in two missionary retreats and began a six months home assignment in the USA.

The first retreat took place in Tequispiapan, a little and beautiful town close to Mexico City, and the second one in the also beautiful city of Chicago. Both events were a real blessing to us.

We had the opportunity to meet some missionaries from Latin America and around the world, re-connect with other ones, get to know about their wonderful ministries through which they are blessing many people (it is exciting!), receive important information and resources, and also we got to listen, minister, support, and pray for one another. We are very grateful to God for such a privilege!

From Chicago we traveled to Alaska where we enjoyed the amazing beauty of this land and wonderful fellowship with brothers and sisters from the churches in this area that for almost six years (already, can you believe it!) have faithfully and lovingly supported us.

Now, we are in the San Francisco Bay Area (just got here a day ago), looking forward to re-connect with our supporting churches. Here we will spend 3 and a half months.

During Christmas and New Year we will be in Southern California (Los Angeles) also with brothers and sisters of some churches, establishing relationships with new ones, but most of all, resting and enjoying our family that live in the area. Our plans are to leave California in February to Chicago to participate in the Mid-Winter conference and from Chicago to Monterrey.

We are sorry that this time we did not get to visit churches in the Mid-west area since that was our region of concentration in our previous home assignment two years ago. We know, it is too much time in between visits, and this is one of the many reasons why we encourage you all to come to visit us in Monterrey!

This past summer, we had the privilege of receiving our brothers and sisters from Hillcrest and Elim Covenant (both from Illinois who faithfully visit us every year), Christian Layman Church (from CA), and a group from Community Covenant (from Alaska). They blessed us with their love, hard work and gave us the chance to connect with them in a different way. For those of you who may not be able to come down, we are making an effort to visit you when we come to the USA.

We want to thank you all again for being part of our lives and ministry, please continue praying for us in this way:

Know that you are very much loved and that our desire is to continue partnering with you. Please, come to visit to Monterrey, it would be a real joy to receive you!

You are in our prayers,

In Him,

Lisandro, Patty and Samuel Julián

International Students Trip to Downtown Chicago - August 2008

A hearty thank you to all who have been able and willing to help with the needs of the International Students arriving in DeKalb! Your prayers and acts of kindness are deeply appreciated as you extend love and friendship! Because of you, the community has noticed the leadership of Hillcrest Covenant Church in this expanding ministry.

There are many new Internationals who have already been touched by the friendship of American Christians as they have been welcomed into homes. Others are looking forward to connections which we have promised. Because of our limitations in finding local phone numbers and ways to connect with the various students, we are not keeping up with requests on either side. Please be patient as we continue to look for "matches" and get back to you -- we are not ignoring your offers! Everyone who has come alongside an International has wonderful tales to tell. The students will keep you thankful, happy, and young!

There are students who are living in apartments without basic furniture and housewares. Some are too shy to ask for help. Others are quite creative to find garage sales and hand-me-downs. Please let us know if you have inexpensive items to clear as you do your fall house cleaning.
